For the first time ever, we welcome Austin to our Top 25 Restaurants by City lineup!
Known for its quirkiness (“Keep Austin Weird!”), arts & music scene, and down-home, finger-lickin’-good barbecue, Austin is all about supporting local. It was also one of the first cities to fully embrace the food truck scene.
But there’s more to Austin than what meets the eye. Its culinary scene, for one, is more than just joints that require extra napkins per dish. Tucked away in cozy venues are Austin-proud chefs that boast artful dishes that, no matter how refined the ingredient list, still pack a punch of flavor — with or without BBQ sauce.
Breaking in the Top 25 at No. 1 is Josephine House, a fine dining institution and sister restaurant of Jeffrey’s, located in Clarksville. Nestled in a cottage with a clean, refined aesthetic — which can be seen in everything from its dishes to its decor — Josephine’s features an intimate marble bar, dark hardwood floors, and stark white walls. And outside, guests can dine or enjoy a glass of wine or a cocktail on the front lawn or patio. Josephine House’s menu, which changes frequently, spotlights eclectic dishes, all made with locally sourced products.
Rounding out this month’s Top 5, in addition to Josephine House, are Noble Sandwich Co., Lucy’s Fried Chicken, Dai Due, and Winebelly.
