January 2014 marks the second month running of L.A.’s Foodable Top 25, where local restaurants are ranked by big data pulled from our proprietary Restaurant Social Media Index. For this list, we specifically focus on consumer sentiment and influence on social media.
This month, Michael Voltaggio’s ink. climbed out of the No. 5 spot, taking the lead for January. December’s No. 1 – Culina Modern Italian – trickled down a couple of spots to No. 3. Gjelina stayed in place at No. 2. Also rounding out the Top 5 are Water Grill and Maude, two new additions to the list. Spago (No. 9) jumped into the Top 10 this month and Bestia (No. 11) fell out of Top 10 status.
New to the list this month, aside from Water Grill and Maude, are Acabar and Sugarfish.
Known for its modern L.A. cuisine, ink. is Michael Voltaggio’s first signature restaurant. With ink., he hopes to redefine what “fine dining” means for Angelenos. Between its minimalistic aesthetic, which creates a soft palette to enhance the dishes themselves, to Voltaggio’s signature style of balancing precision with adventure, it’s no wonder ink. is loved by so many.
