Hanging in the Top 10 since our Foodable D.C. Top 25 Restaurants roll-out in December 2013, Birch & Barley finally makes its way to the No. 1 spot. February’s top runner, Bourbon Steak, falls to No. 5 this month. Surprisingly, The Inn at Little Washington, which fell off the list completely last month, makes a comeback for March, holding it down at No. 4. Talk about a jump!
There were also a handful of new additions this month: James Beard Award finalist Restaurant Eve (No. 6) made it onto the Foodable 25 for the first time, as did Minibar by José Andrés, CityZen, Komi, Cork Wine Bar, Marcel’s, and 1789 Restaurant. Of course, that means quite a few restaurants were also kicked off the list for March: We said goodbye to Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, Toki Underground, Vermilion, Ghibellina, Room 11, L’Auberge Chez Francois, Vidalia, Fishnet, and Green Pig Bistro.
Birch & Barley is a restaurant that does not limit itself to a specific style of cuisine, but prides itself on seasonal ingredients and market driven dishes. It’s home to — wait for it — 555 artisanal beers, and, according to some Yelp reviews, B&B offers a killer brunch.
