It’s not exactly a secret anymore that D.C.’s dining scene is an emerging one, gaining culinary cred for its elevated food and concepts. This month on our Foodable Top 25 list, we welcome Iron Gate, Doi Moi, and Mintwood Place into the mix for the first time.
Taking back the No. 1 spot is Birch & Barley, which last championed the list in March. Estadio climbs into the Top 5 for the first time at No. 2, and May’s frontrunner, Restaurant Eve, falls out at No. 6. Three restaurants climb back onto the list for the first time since February: Pearl Dive Oyster Palace, Toki Underground, and Ghibellina.
In June, Birch & Barley took home a 2014 Rammy (a big event for D.C.’s food & dining industry) for “Beer Program of the Year” for its highly acclaimed craft beer spread (as we mentioned in March, it’s home to 555 artisanal beers!). On June 29th, Birch & Barley’s Kyle Bailey competed in a chef-off for charity at Union Market.
