For the first time since the rollout of D.C.’s Foodable Top 25 in December 2013, Proof pushes through to the No. 1 spot. With a Social Score of 169.13 — the highest D.C. has seen thus far — Proof is a wine-centric restaurant in Penn Quarter that serves Modern American fare under the vision of Chef Haidar Karoum. It has been in the Top 5 since February 2014, but has never seen a No. 1.
Birch & Barley — which has been consistently in the Top 5 since D.C. Foodable 25’s inception, and was No. 1 in June (and March) — takes a surprising tumble to No. 8. However, it’s important to note that its Social Score still increased — from a 166.29 to a 167.02, showing that D.C. dining has really elevated itself in terms of consumer perception this past month. Let’s see if restaurants’ Social Scores for D.C. continue to climb. Another unexpected jump comes from Room 11, at No. 2, which has not seen a 25 list since February, when it was No. 19. Also, BlackSalt makes its comeback in the Top 10 after an odd fall to No. 24 last month.
Congratulations to some newcomers this month: Sona Creamery and Wine Bar, Rural Society, Menu MBK, and Toro Toro.
