Formerly known as Seasalt and Pepper, Seaspice climbs aboard Miami’s Top 25 Restaurants list, making its debut at No.1! We also welcome to the list this month: 1826, 27 Restaurant & Bar (located at the Freehand), The Downstairs at Hotel Astor, Blackbrick (aka Midtown Chinese), Estiatorio Milos and Azul.
Bourbon Steak, which was sitting pretty for the past three months, now falls to No. 3, while Michael’s Genuine stays steady at No. 2. This month’s biggest dropper is The Federal, unsurprisingly, since this past month the restaurant was on hiatus amidst a relocation.
With seven new additions this month, it’s clear to see that Miami’s dining scene is stepping up its game — especially when it comes to hotel dining options. Three of the newbies (27, The Downstairs and Azul) are tucked inside hotels — or in 27’s case, a hip hostel. And with a No. 1 RSMI score of 166.73 for Seaspice, it’s apparent that Miami diners are also showing more love to the restaurants they think deserve it. Last May (exactly a year ago), the RSMI score for the frontrunner was only 151.29, meaning it’s jumped more than 15 points since!
