Unlike some of our other cities, Boston’s Top 25 ranking is never predictable when it comes to the No. 1 restaurant. While a few establishments, like Liquid Art House and Bronwyn, have seen the top spot multiple times, Boston diners always seem to be talking about a broader rotation of hot spots each month. Pulling December data from the Restaurant Social Media Index (RSMI), this month’s ranking is no different, with Loyal Nine, a Cambridge restaurant that made the list for the first time in October, coming in at No. 1.
Loyal Nine was recently named one of Boston’s “50 Best New Restaurants” by The Boston Globe. The restaurant’s daily menu changes depending on availability of locally sourced ingredients (but check out some of their mainstays here). Loyal Nine includes a local raw bar, craft cocktails, grower/producer wines, and New England fare. The restaurant also highlights different “guest” coffee roasters regularly, and offers dinner Tuesday thru Sunday and brunch on Sundays.
This month shows a lot of new action in the Top 5. Aside from Loyal Nine, last month’s No. 10 placer, Puritan & Company, steals the No. 2 spot from Alden & Harlow, now bumped to No. 6. Giulia, once a frontrunner, jumps back onto the list at No. 4, and Spoke Wine Bar joins the Top 25 ranking for the very first time, sitting pretty at No. 3.
In fact, there were a lot of new restaurants making the Top 25 this month in Boston. Shout-outs to BISq, Moody’s Delicatessen & Provision, Select Oyster Bar, Casa B, KO Catering and Pies, The Gallows, and Erbaluce. We also welcome Bel Ari and Row 34 back to the list.
