New York City Top 25 Restaurants: May 2014

May proved to be a solid month in welcoming new restaurants across the board to our Foodable Top 25 city rankings. On the New York front, we welcome Rye, located in Brooklyn, as it makes its Foodable 25 debut.

WD-50 makes its way to No. 1 again for the third time since we began our NYC rankings back in September 2013. The Wylie Dufresne restaurant pushes Arlington Club, April’s No. 1, down to No. 9. May’s Top 5 consists of a new lineup: WD-50 (up from No. 3), Perilla (up from No. 4), Dirt Candy (up from No. 11), The Modern (up from No. 17) and Locanda Verde (up from No. 12), respectively.

Jumping back onto the list this month are DB Bistro Moderne, Catch, and Manon.

New York City Top 25 Restaurants: February 2014

In our now six months of tracking New York City’s social consumer sentiment toward local restaurants, we’ve seen quite a few shifts from month to month. The data from February has been crunched, putting WD-50 with a Social Score of 158.64 in the No. 1 spot for the first time. A Wylie Dufresne concept, WD-50’s focus is New American cuisine, hosts private dining in its wine cellar, and currently offers two tasting menus. Aside from having a James Beard Award-winning chef, WD-50 is known for its culinary innovation – in both technique and structure.

Perilla, January’s No. 1 holder, drops all the way to No. 13, Marc Forgione remains in Top 5 status, and Momofuku climbs from No. 13 to No. 6. Also making significant shifts, for better or worse, are Betony, Locanda Verde and Per Se.

Congrats to Saxon + Parole, who made #Foodable25 for the first time this month (at No. 2, no less!), and those who jumped back onto the list this month: DB Bistro Moderne, The Stanton Social and Boulud Sud.

New York City Top 25 Restaurants: November 2013

Our New York City #Foodable25 rankings haven’t shifted much since we rolled out the city ranking in September. This shows us what we already expected of a solid food city like New York: consistency and loyalty amongst local consumers. There were, however, shifts throughout the usual contenders, as well as some new players in the game. Congratulations to Lafayette, American Cut, Betony, and Piora, who all made the list for the first time this month.

Alder jumped into the Top 10 (up from No. 22), as did Dirt Candy (up from No. 15). The Spotted Pig and Balthazar both fell into the second half of the list.

Topping the list for November is Locanda Verde, TriBeCa’s Italian taverna, with a Social Score of 142.73. Driven by Chef Andrew Carmellini, Locanda Verde’s menu includes items like Lamb Meatball Sliders, Pumpkin Agnolotti and Pomegranate-Glazed Duck, amongst other delectable dishes. The restaurant has received high praise from The New York Times, Esquire, GQ and Bon Appetit, yet remains casual and affordable, making it approachable while maintaining its high quality and value.

New York City Top 25 Restaurants: September 2013

ABC Kitchen

ABC Kitchen

Congratulations to those who ranked in our first Foodable Top 25 NYC list! Scoring one of the highest social scores we've yet to rank throughout all of our tracked cities in the Restaurant Social Media Index, ABC Kitchen tops the list. Tying together healthy, organic foods and a Michelin star Chef (Jean-Georges Vongerichten), ABC Kitchen's sensory style of food art merged with social are what makes good restaurants great

This list shows which restaurants in the New York City market have the most consumer sentiment and influence through social platforms. Each month, we'll report back with the most recent rankings, which are derived from the Restaurant Social Media Index. Some will rise, some will fall, and some new competition is sure to climb through.

The Index tracks the top restaurant consumers in the U.S. - more than 52 million of them - across 17 platforms to determine key elements about restaurants, like consumer sentiment and influence. The Foodable Top 25 is the most unique restaurant ranking in the business, and the reason is simple: It's not a PR-driven popularity contest or an editorial 'My Favorite Picks' list. It's the real deal. The Foodable Top 25 is more realistic because it's tracked by the RSMI. A Foodable Top 25 Best Score is a 200, but getting that is damn near impossible. But like any great, competitive-driven restaurant, we know you will try.

So, without further ado, we present our first-ever Foodable Top 25 for the Big Apple. Bon Appetit!
