Boston Top 25 Restaurants: June 2016

Get your silverware ready, Boston. The June 2016 Top 25 is bringing you the best of the best, newcomers, and some old favorites. The top three for this month seem to be sitting on a merry-go-round, circling and taking turns as they rotate through the rankings. This time, however, it was Puritan & Company that won with a score of 180.23. Loyal Nine came in a hairbreadth away at No.2 with a score of 179.34, followed by Giulia with a score of 178.68 at No. 3.

Congratulations to Highball Lounge, a retro bar with upscale eats and vintage games, for debuting into the Boston Top 25. This restaurant sits at No.24 with a score of 168.67.

We also have to give a big hand to Alden & Harlow. While they may have landed at No. 5, it's quite impressive that this subterranean, New American restaurant jumped 11 spots from its former No. 16 placement. Speaking of a major comeback, let's welcome back a few restaurants who've finally returned to the Top 25 after being away since December 2015: No. 21 Erblauce, No. 22 Row 34, and No.23 The Gallows. And a special shoutout to jmCurley at No. 25 for making it back onto the rankings after last appearing in September 2015. Will this brand continue to move up?

Boston Top 25 Restaurants: February 2016

Last month, Cambridge restaurant Loyal Nine claimed the No. 1 spot for the first time on Boston’s Top 25 Restaurants list, and this month, the establishment—recently named one of the “50 Best New Restaurants” by the Boston Globe—continues its streak on top.

Liquid Art House, Alden & Harlow, and Craigie on Main, all local staples, take a bit of a hit this month, falling out of the Top 10 lineup. And for the first time in months, veterans Tavern Road and Bronwyn make their way back into the ranking, kicking out Erbaluce and Row 34.

Boston Top 25 Restaurants: December 2015

Unlike some of our other cities, Boston’s Top 25 ranking is never predictable when it comes to the No. 1 restaurant. While a few establishments, like Liquid Art House and Bronwyn, have seen the top spot multiple times, Boston diners always seem to be talking about a broader rotation of hot spots each month. Pulling December data from the Restaurant Social Media Index (RSMI), this month’s ranking is no different, with Loyal Nine, a Cambridge restaurant that made the list for the first time in October, coming in at No. 1.

Loyal Nine was recently named one of Boston’s “50 Best New Restaurants” by The Boston Globe. The restaurant’s daily menu changes depending on availability of locally sourced ingredients (but check out some of their mainstays here). Loyal Nine includes a local raw bar, craft cocktails, grower/producer wines, and New England fare. The restaurant also highlights different “guest” coffee roasters regularly, and offers dinner Tuesday thru Sunday and brunch on Sundays.

This month shows a lot of new action in the Top 5. Aside from Loyal Nine, last month’s No. 10 placer, Puritan & Company, steals the No. 2 spot from Alden & Harlow, now bumped to No. 6. Giulia, once a frontrunner, jumps back onto the list at No. 4, and Spoke Wine Bar joins the Top 25 ranking for the very first time, sitting pretty at No. 3.

In fact, there were a lot of new restaurants making the Top 25 this month in Boston. Shout-outs to BISq, Moody’s Delicatessen & Provision, Select Oyster Bar, Casa B, KO Catering and Pies, The Gallows, and Erbaluce. We also welcome Bel Ari and Row 34 back to the list.

Boston Top 25 Restaurants: September 2015

The Top 25 restaurants ranking for Boston this month, based on September data, is eye-opening. Cambridge is coming in hot, with three restaurants premiering on the list hailing from the Boston neighborhood. No. 9 Park takes a tumble from No. 2 to No. 25, and Liquid Art House pulls itself up to reclaim the No. 1 spot. Last month, it stood at No. 9.

With four new restaurants making the list, we also say goodbye to four, including Tavern Road, which — despite having a few close calls — has made the Top 25 consistently since the inception of Boston’s Top 25 in June 2014. Is consumers’ sentiment shifting over time, or has Boston’s dining scene just become so saturated with high-quality establishments, creating more competition in the market?

Boston Top 25 Restaurants: July 2015

Last month's No. 1, Bronwyn, has not been out of the Top 5 since November 2014, but that changes this month. The Boston star of the June rankings falls to No. 14 in July. Meanwhile, Craigie on Main takes the top spot for the first time ever -- up from its June No. 9 standing -- with a Social Score of 172.88.

Located in Cambridge, Craigie on Main is helmed by highly acclaimed Chef Tony Maws, whose credits include being listed in Food & Wine's "America's Best New Chefs." His French-inspired menu changes frequently, depending on availability of locally sourced ingredients.

Also rounding out the Top 5 for July are, in order, No. 9 Park, Alden & Harlow, Journeyman, and Tavern Road.
