National Top 25 Restaurants: Q2 2014

While our monthly Foodable Top 25 Restaurant rankings focuses on local markets — and therefore, pulls out hidden gems and less big brands — our National Top 25, pulled quarterly, reflects the big guys in the game. Through our proprietary Restaurant Social Media Index (RSMI), we track sentiment, engagement, influence, and location-based actions from more than 55 million U.S. consumers across 17 social platforms to showcase which restaurant brands are championing the space and which ones aren’t getting much love. While quarterly sales are obviously important, the core of everything in restaurant & hospitality comes down to what consumers are saying — and whether they're taking action — in relation to your brand.

So, without further ado, here are Q2 2014’s top players. (For the full Top 250 list, you can check them out in the RSMI here.)

National Top 25 Restaurants: Q1 2014

Through our proprietary Restaurant Social Media Index, we have been tracking brands across the nation (and will soon expand to international markets, as well) since 2009. Unlike our city-level Top 25 rankings, which are reported on a monthly basis, the National Top 25 Restaurants will be a quarterly installation. Though restaurant brands frequently shift from quarter to quarter, expect to see big brands on this list — although, every once in a while, smaller brands (even some independents) may sneak ahead to the forefront.

Q1 2014 data shows Subway coming in at No. 1 for the very first time, pushing both Chipotle — who topped the rankings in both Q3 and Q4 2013 — and Taco Bell — who topped the rankings in Q1 and Q2 2013 — to the bottom-half of the Top 10.
