StarbuckS Selects Portland as the Test Market for Mobile Ordering

The coffee mogul, Starbucks aims to improve speed of service by offering mobile ordering. The brand will be testing this feature at 150 Portland locations on iPhone users at first and plans to expand to all locations nationwide and Android users next year. The app will allow users to order ahead before arriving, eliminating the five minute average wait for their drink. 

So why has it taken Starbucks so long to implement this service? The brand seems to be ahead of the mobile payment trend with their mobile-payment app, that was introduced back in 2009 and accounts for about 14% of their US store transactions. Read More
