More eco-conscious practices are being developed as the green trend continues to spread within all restaurant segments. The Dallas fast casual concept known as Snappy Salads has seven chains in the area and is now replacing plastic straws to paper straws.
Paper straws cost significantly more at 2.8 cents each, while plastic costs .05 cents. Roughly 500,000,000 plastic straws are used a day and they are rarely recycled. So for the eco-friendly restaurant that wants to still offer straws to customers, paper straws are an alternative.
