In the past, restaurants have often relied on word of mouth as a means of marketing.

And that is still the case in the 21st century, where a message can be shared with millions of people instantaneously with the push of a button. And some Boston restaurants are taking heed of today’s social media addicted society.  

An example of this is when Tony Maw, Chef and Owner of the fine dining French restaurant, Craigie on Main in Cambridge decided to use Twitter to announce the restaurant being open during a blizzard. This message spread and a normally slow night was transformed to a busy one. 

Evan Deluty, Chef and Owner of Stella in the South End, who doesn't even have an email account, hired a company to handle the restaurant's social media. The restaurant is now very active on Instagram and the result has been "phenomenal". Read More
