Louisiana Chef Opens First Hotel in Austin's Bee Cave Suburb

Austin's newly developing Bee Cave suburb welcomed its first hotel this summer with the opening of Sonesta Bee Cave, complete with an onsite restaurant helmed by Louisiana chef Patrick Newman. Working as the Executive Sous Chef at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, Newman made his way though a number of Southern restaurant kitchens before making the move to open the Sonesta Bee Cave. Alongside Sous Chef Jason Ward, Newman opened the hotel restaurant Meridian 98, which focuses on ultra-local Texas fare, sourcing nearly the entire menu from nearby farms and producers. 

Newman's tapas-style menu of Meridian 98 is additionally inspired by the Bee Cave suburb, playing with bee themes on the menu including sections that are meant to "BeeShared." Complementing the farm-to-fork cuisine is an extensive craft cocktail, wine and beer menu that also share the bee theme trend. Read More
