NOLA Veggie Fest: May 9-10

The seventh annual NOLA Veggie Fest will be taking place from May 9-10 at the New Orleans Healing Center. The festival, which celebrates vegetarianism, veganism and what organizers refer to as a "cruelty-free" lifestyle, will feature food vendors, cooking demonstrations, speakers, a yoga area and a "vegan fashion show."

The vegan fashion show is a new addition to the lineup and will be showcasing clothing items that don't use animal byproducts such as leather, feathers or fur.

Exquisite, garden-based dishes will be served by the delicious likes of Seed, 3 Potato 4, Breads on Oak, Carmo, L'Enfant Terrible and more.

"We actually think that veganism and this whole plant-based idea is finally catching on down South," Jeff Dorson, the Humane Society of Louisiana Executive Director, said. "We're catching the tailwind of the interest that started in California and the Northeast. ...We're seeing a growth all across the board with more vegan and vegetarian-friendly restaurants." Read More
