After 42 years of service and as the last restaurant from Philadelphia's early 1970s food scene standing, owner Weaver Lilley is selling this iconic, romantic, two-story Rittenhouse bar-restaurant. Over the years, Lilley had rejected and fielded offers from entrepreneurs who intended to change the concept, but he has found comfort in potential buyers Chad Williams and Hanna Whitaker, who plan on keeping the name and atmosphere of FriSatSun.

Williams, a chef at Tela's Market in Francisville, and fiancee Whitaker, a veteran of the Jose Garces Group, only plan on making cosmetic changes that would require a closing.

"This is a great restaurant and it's been around forever for a reason," Williams said, adding that he and Whitaker made it a goal to "keep its legacy and its following as an upscale but approachable neighborhood restaurant."

The FriSatSun menu is going to reflect the seasons and Williams' experiences, from his time as a chef de cuisine at Garces' flagship restaurant, Amada, and more.

Lilley called Williams sincere and skilled.

"He's been out there," Lilley said. "He knows what's going on out. He's in touch with what people want." Read More
