As Portland awaits a possible raise to the minimum wage that will greatly affect the city's restaurant industry, one restaurant operator is looking to get ahead of the problem by implementing higher wages for his staff in advance. With a bill in front of the House Business and Labor Committee that looks to raise the minimum wage rate incrementally to $15 by 2018, restaurant owner Kurt Huffman decided to begin his entire staff at that wage so as to be best adapted to adjust his business model accordingly.
