Food Recovery Network Looks to End Food Wastage in Seattle's Restaurants

Seattle made headlines several months ago when the city enacted a local food compost program in efforts to help curtail the city's staggering levels of food wastage. Yet some restaurants still felt they could do more and with the help of local program Food Recovery Network, a number of Seattle's top restaurants are looking to end food wastage in their own restaurants by donating any surplus to church groups and women's shelters.

Recently, University of Washington students have joined with the program, volunteering their time to pick up and redistribute restaurants' excess food products that would have normally ended up in landfills. Read More
