Don’t ask Gabe Barry of Brooklyn Brewery for a beer based on color. As the independent brewery’s Beer Education & Community Ambassador, her No. 1 pet peeve is the common misconception that light-colored beer contains less alcohol content than darker ones. “You can have a beer like Guinness, which is opaque in color, but in alcohol content it’s about 4.5 percent,” she says.
