Starbucks' Latest LTO Frap Has Risen From the Dead

Foodable has talked about fall-themed coffee beverages foodies can’t resist in the past, but this Halloween drink, from America’s darling coffee brand, actually contains no coffee.

It seems to be a recurring pattern every year, but since this popular fall holiday is known for sugar-filled candy… it’s actually not all that surprising.

Two thousand seventeen marks the fourth year Starbucks has rolled out a Halloween-themed frappuccino as a Limited Time Offer (LTO).

This time around a zombie-inspired frap made the “party list”.

“When brainstorming a new Frappuccino flavor for this Halloween, we started by thinking about a Halloween party and monster mash,” said Jennica Robinson from Starbucks beverage development team.

Since 2014, the coffee giant has been developing drinks like the Franken Frappuccino® and the popular Frappula Frappuccino® to celebrate Halloween day.

“We had already invited Frankenstein and vampires to the party, so we came up with another monster that could join the bash,” said Robinson in a press release.

It’s a storyline easy to build upon for an LTO.

The Zombie Frappuccino® is a blended drink with a green-tinted body. The cup is drizzled with red mocha for a bloody, back-from-the-dead look and it’s topped with exposed zombie brains— or pink whipped cream (whichever way you want to look at it).

What is the flavor inspiration, you ask?

Dipped caramel apples— a "healthy-ish" halloween party treat.

Points for trying to stay on the healthy trend? Well, it's still very sugary.
