Stuff recently reported that technology might someday play a part of killing off fine dining establishments. With the rise of celebrity chefs partnering with companies like UberEATS, the meal can be delivered right to the guest, omitting the entire “restaurant experience” all together.
Stuff also says the trend of virtual restaurants might be a culprit for possibly ridding the restaurant scene of fine dining, too. This type of concept has no “physical store front” and is online only.
And those restaurants that focus (or begin to focus) more on home-delivery and catering will need to take their kitchens into consideration. If they were once designed for strictly in-house preparation, adding home-delivery can comprise their in-house dining experience because they are not equipped to handle such a vast amount of new orders.
