Sumi Robata Bar, a modern, intimate Japanese diner/bar in River North helmed by Chef Kato, boasts refined Asian dishes. Menu items include Grilled Wagyu Ribeye, Charred Scallops with Ohba Butter, and even unexpected items like fried chicken. Though it did not win first, Sumi was chosen as one of Eater's “Restaurant of the Year” nominees. Zagat also credited the restaurant as one of the best Chicago restaurants for international cuisine.
Quite a few of October's restaurants fell off of November's list: Bavette’s Bar & Boeuf, Howells and Hood, Earth + Ocean, Longman & Eagle, Lula Cafe, Vera, and The Publican. Replacing them were some newcomers: Congratulations to Dillman’s, Honey Butter Fried Chicken, Carriage House, Brindille, Three Dots and a Dash, The Dawson, and Urban Belly.
