Chicago's Social Score for its No. 1 ranking has increased each month, now at a 144.22 for BellyQ, topping December's list. The Asian barbecue restaurant has finally grabbed the leading spot after having been at No. 2 for the past two months, since we began reporting Chicago's #Foodable25 rankings.
A partnership between Chef Bill Kim, Cornerstone Restaurant Group and Michael Jordan, BellyQ's menu revolves around seasonal and locally farmed ingredients. Its tagline, "Tradition. Amplified.," can be seen in the dishes – Goat Milk Feta Pancakes, Tea Smoked Duck Breast, Spicy Maple Glazed Pork Steak and Mustard Braised Swiss Chard, to name a few. Guests can be in control of grilling their own food at one of the restaurant's grilling tables if they choose. Design-wise, the venue boasts a minimalistic feel so the food takes center stage, and also includes both intimate seating, like a Chef's Table, as well as communal spaces.
Most of the Top 10 restaurants still hold Top 10 status, though Dillman's dropped to No. 11 with Trenchermen jumping from No. 23 last month to No. 9. Other changes this month include the addition of Table, Donkey & Stick, Chez Moi, Taxim, and Schwa. Hopping back on the list from October is Earth + Ocean.
