Climbing from No. 7 last month to the top spot in December is PB Steak. The men of the Pubbelly empire – Andreas Shreiner, Jose Mendin & Sergio Navarro – are clearly doing something right, as two of their five Miami-based restaurants – PB Steak and Pubbelly – have both made our Top 25 list every month since the local ranking's inception in August.
Earlier this year, the Foodable Team got behind the scenes (and into the kitchen) at PB Steak with Jose Mendin, so we were able to see firsthand what all the fuss is about. For starters, the menu is filled with comfortably classic steakhouse dishes, like salmon, pork chop and steak, but the preparation is far from average. All beef, for example, is naturally raised certified black angus, broiled at 1200 degrees and finished with sea salt. The steakhouse's Homemade Bacon Confit is made from porkbelly, and is marinated for nearly two days and then smoked for a total of six hours. For those wanting something lighter, the expansive list of Plates to Share is a great alternative. PB Steak really lives up to their "Come Hungry, Eat Like a Local" mantra.
There were quite a few restaurants that climbed their way back onto the list this month: Area 31, Zuma, Red, The Steakhouse, and Prime One Twelve.
Also, congratulations to 1500 Degrees and Bocce Bar, who both made the #Foodable25 for the first time.
