While our monthly city-level Top 25 Restaurant rankings highlight the local stars of each regional market, Foodable's National Top 25 Restaurants features the social rankings of the industry's bigger players: the widespread, recognizable brands and chains consumers know and love.
These restaurant kings and queens are all hard-hitters, but which ones reigned supreme? Without further ado, clap your hands for No. 1 on our list, Starbucks — especially because this is the first time this coffee comeback kid has topped the ranking in two years! Whether it was due to the brand's rising earnings, employee raises, or mobile growth this year, Starbucks is making strides and it'll be interesting to see what its future holds.
In a surprising drop, Wendy's, which led the ranking in Q1 2016, fell 16 spots and is now out of the Top 10, landing at No. 17. Could it have been because of the credit card hack that hit 1,000 of its locations back in July? Who knows. But this brand is still well-loved to make it onto the National Top 25 and is on its way to recovery.
There were plenty of familiar faces in this round. Panera Bread, Chick-fil-A, Taco Bell, Dunkin' Donuts, Arby's, Sonic Drive-In, and Buffalo Wild Wings were among others that returned to the Top 25, but new ones have entered the ranking. Congratulations to MOD Pizza, Zoës Kitchen, Freshii, Smashburger, Lemonade, Yard House, and Wow Bao! Where did your favorite brands fall on the count? Check out the full list below!
